#3 KEEP LEARNING
Celebrating Pride originally began out of protest. June 28, 1969 marks the start of the Stonewall riots in which the LGBTQ+ community responded to a police raid that began at the Stonewall Inn, a bar in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village. The Stonewall Inn served as a haven for the city’s LGBTQ+ community. Visit the list of learning resources, including organizations like The Marsha P. Johnson Insitute and The National Center for Transgender Equality. If you’ve been looking for a new documentary, browse through 10 documentaries and films that commemorate the Stonewall protests and the activists that led the movement, initiating what we know today as Pride.
